63: I’m an Alpha – how can I be pregnant?
Chen Pinming was deeply worried when Sheng Shaoyou suddenly started vomiting — his first thought was that it must be his pheromone disorder acting up again.
Luckily, they were already at the hospital, so checking was easy.
Thirty minutes later…
Sheng Shaoyou’s test results stunned everyone.
“Pregnant?”
Looking at the young doctor from the pheromone department, who stood there frozen in shock, Sheng Shaoyou let out a cold laugh:
“Your hospital’s standards are really something. I’m an Alpha. How could I possibly be pregnant?”
“But—”
The young Beta intern had just been filling in at the outpatient clinic because his supervisor had been called to the wards.
At first, seeing the obvious early pregnancy symptoms didn’t faze him — diagnosing early pregnancy isn’t hard. But when he saw the test results… even he found it unbelievable.
“Our lab is equipped with the most advanced technology in the country and boasts the highest accuracy rate. Theoretically, the data can’t be wrong.”
Even as he said this, faced with a tall, coldly handsome 27-year-old Alpha standing before him, the Beta doctor had little confidence.
But all the indicators — and the patient’s own symptoms — pointed to the same impossible conclusion: this S-class Alpha really was pregnant.
The young doctor quickly tried to calm him down:
“I’ve already contacted the lab. We’ll draw more blood and rerun the tests immediately.”
Twenty minutes later, the second set of results came back — and they were the same. Sheng Shaoyou’s progesterone levels still matched those of someone in early pregnancy.
The Beta doctor was now completely at a loss.
And Sheng Shaoyou’s expression grew uglier.
After hesitating a moment, the doctor murmured:
“Perhaps… perhaps we should go to the ultrasound room. At this stage, you should be able to see the gestational sac.”
Sheng Shaoyou: …
At that, Chen Pinming finally lost it.
“Doctor, we specifically came to the VIP specialist clinic. Do you not have any experienced doctors? My boss simply has a pheromone disorder. Your diagnosis is as ridiculous as those people who claimed the world would end in 2012!”
Even the young Beta doctor felt this was absurd. But the lab reports were what they were.
Flustered, he pulled out his phone.
“Perhaps I should ask our department head…”
—
The pheromone department and the lab convened an emergency meeting.
It wasn’t a big meeting, but the hospital administration showed up in full force.
As Jianghu City’s most prestigious private hospital, Hechi had many powerful investors. Two years ago, Country P’s X Holdings had acquired a controlling stake, making it the hospital’s largest shareholder.
And now, because a duty doctor at the pheromone department had failed to recognize something sooner, the young master of X Holdings was facing the biggest personal crisis of his life.
The mysterious head of X Holdings still didn’t show up, of course.
Instead, his secretary Chang Yu represented him via video call, accepting the hospital’s formal apology.

Meanwhile, the beleaguered Hua Yong was being dragged by the collar into the bedroom of Suite 9901 at the X Hotel.
“Mr. Sheng, let me explain—”
Alpha hands shoved him hard against the bedframe, and he winced in pain, wearing an utterly pitiful expression.
“Ah—so painful…”
Sheng Shaoyou loomed over him, expression dark, and spat out two words:
“Explain.”
“I told you to wear protection,” Hua Yong protested. “But that day, Mr. Sheng said—”
He dropped his voice into a mocking impression of Sheng Shaoyou’s impatient tone:
“‘I’m not even really an Omega — why the hell would I wear a condom? Hurry up! Get it over with and get lost!'”
Then, blinking innocently:
“I did warn you of the risks. You were just too eager.”
Seeing Sheng Shaoyou’s face darken further, he quickly softened:
“Of course, it’s still mostly my fault. I couldn’t resist temptation. But, when it comes to you, I’ve got no willpower at all.”
He stood up, wrapped his arms around Sheng Shaoyou’s waist, and murmured:
“I can resist anything — except you.”
Enigma’s rosy lips pressed a kiss to his warm shoulder as his hand slid down to rub Sheng Shaoyou’s abdomen:
“Besides… I really do want us to have a baby together as soon as possible.”
“What the hell are you?” Sheng Shaoyou shoved him away, breaking free from his clingy embrace.
“You ought to be shipped off to a zoo as an exhibit!”
“Oh?” Hua Yong tilted his head, soft and playful.
“Would Mr. Sheng come watch me perform?”
“Perform what? Being a freak?”
“A mermaid,” Hua Yong said seriously, catching Sheng Shaoyou’s wrist and pulling him close, their noses almost touching, gaze as soft as water.
“I’m a great swimmer—”
Leaning closer to whisper in his ear:
“I once read a fairy tale that said mermaids need the fluids of their beloved human to transform their tails into legs.”
The thought of Hua Yong, bare-chested, pretty face tilted up to “receive his fluids,” made Sheng Shaoyou’s ears burn. Still, he forced himself to scowl:
“What kind of fairy tale even made it to print?”
“Children’s books in Country P are much more daring than you think,” Hua Yong replied, licking his lips until they glistened.
“Besides, it was never published.”
“Then how did you read it?”
“I wrote it myself.” He grinned.
“Ten little stories — all starring you and me.”
“What kind of sicko are you?”
“The kind that only likes Mr. Sheng.”
Those shimmering lips made Sheng Shaoyou’s heart race.
When those honey-slick lips finally touched his cheek, a warm breath brushed against his skin. Hua Yong murmured softly:
“I already told you — I’m not an Alpha.”
Sheng Shaoyou’s heart thudded hard, his willpower crumbling as his breathing grew heavy.
Gentle fingers stroked his sensitive nape, and before he knew it, those sweet lips were kissing him hard, tangling with his, orchids blooming hot and fast in the air.
Sheng Shaoyou gasped for breath, his jaw taut, neck damp with saliva. When he finally managed to shove Hua Yong away, he choked out:
“What the hell… are you?”
“Enigma.” Hua Yong’s eyes sparkled with near-mad devotion as he gazed up at him.
“I was born for you.”
Enigma?!
Sheng Shaoyou had always thought “Enigma” was just media hype — a myth.
Who knew fate would make him experience that one-in-a-billion miracle himself?
It wasn’t a stunt, nor a misdiagnosis.
Enigmas were real.
A being at the pinnacle of human evolution — stronger than a monster, capable of marking an Alpha, and making an S-class Alpha pregnant.
Nobody escapes karma.

Two months later.
Li Baiqiao wasn’t having a great time lately — his elder brother was cracking down on him hard, so he could no longer party freely.
But today, while his brother was away on a business trip, Li Baiqiao seized the chance to sneak out to the club, calling everyone he could think of along the way.
When he called Sheng Shaoyou, the man was in his study, reviewing the budget report for a gene-editing project after dinner.
Hua Yong had quietly pulled a chair over to sit beside him, whispering “advice” in his ear.
“This project can be scrapped. It burns money and isn’t reliable,” Hua Yong said. “HS already has the technology. If you want, I can have Shen Wenlang visit tomorrow.”
Sheng Shaoyou raised his head.
“Mr. Hua’s connections are that good?”
Hua Yong smiled sweetly.
“Only if Mr. Sheng needs them.”
“So where were you before?” the expectant father leaned back lazily, shooting him a glance.
“Did you enjoy watching me burn money?”
“That was my fault,” Hua Yong immediately conceded.
“But at the time, Mr. Sheng didn’t know me well yet. I was afraid you’d be upset if I interfered too soon.”
“So lying to me makes me happy?”
Hua Yong placed his hand gently on his abdomen.
“Lying to you was my last resort. But if I hadn’t, I would’ve died.”
“You really are fragile,” Sheng Shaoyou scoffed, though the soothing orchid scent lulled both him and the baby.
“HS stands for Hua and Sheng,” Hua Yong murmured.
“It was created for you.”
“Or for Shen Wenlang’s ‘Shen,’ perhaps?” Sheng Shaoyou retorted coldly.
“I’ve never coaxed anyone but you,” Hua Yong admitted with a grin.
Before Sheng Shaoyou could fire back, his phone rang.
It was Li Baiqiao, loudly inviting him to the club at 9:30.
Sheng Shaoyou was about to decline when he caught sight of Hua Yong’s innocent face — and suddenly felt mischievous.
“Sure, I’ll come,” he said.
Li Baiqiao cheered.
“Good man! V9 room — we won’t leave until we’re all drunk!”
“Going drinking?” Hua Yong’s soft hand still rested on his abdomen, his face as calm and unreadable as ever.
“Yeah,” Sheng Shaoyou replied. “Li Baiqiao’s parties are always fun. Care to join me?”
Hua Yong’s eyes lit up.
“Of course.”
The private room was sparsely filled when they arrived — just a few familiar faces like Li Baiqiao and Cheng Zhe.
The moment Hua Yong walked in, all eyes turned.
“Ah Yong?” Cheng Zhe blinked.
“Sister-in-law?” Li Baiqiao added.
Hua Yong smiled sweetly.
“Hello, everyone.”
Even Cheng Zhe was taken aback by his grace.
Throughout the evening, Hua Yong stayed at Sheng Shaoyou’s side, gently stopping him from drinking, his serene yet icy gaze enough to make even Li Baiqiao break out in goosebumps.
At one point, Sheng Shaoyou smirked at him.
“So obedient, huh?”
Hua Yong looked at him, lips curved into a dazzling smile:
“Mm. Very.”
