Guo Chengyu got out of the car and, under Jiang Xiaoshuai’s guarded gaze, sauntered unhurriedly to the doorway. It was dim outside, so Guo couldn’t make out Jiang’s features—he only thought the outline looked quite handsome.
“Can I help you?” Jiang Xiaoshuai asked.
Guo Chengyu gave an affable smile. “I’m here to see a doctor.”
Jiang turned and went inside; Guo followed him.
They sat facing each other. Now that Guo could see Jiang clearly, he forgot what he’d come for. His eyes traveled from the crown of Jiang’s head to the soles of his feet, studying him thoroughly, as if he wanted to peel back the skin and see what kind of filling was inside.
Jiang, unfazed by the scrutiny, returned a solemn look.
“Where does it hurt?”
Guo leaned in until he was almost touching Jiang’s nose and murmured, “Take a guess.”
Jiang parted his thin lips. “If it’s a gynecological issue, the obstetrics and gynecology hospital is thirty meters to the left—take bus No. 2 straight there.”
“You’re really handsome,” Guo said, eyes teasing.
“For crossed eyes, please visit Tongren Hospital,” Jiang replied.
“So you like men, right?”
“For psychiatric conditions, Anding Hospital is the place,” Jiang dead-panned.
Guo slid the medical chart out from under Jiang’s elbow and asked softly, “And if it’s an illness of the heart?”
“Then dial 110 directly,” Jiang answered coldly.
Guo lowered his gaze and chuckled. “Jiang—Xiao—shuai. I’ll remember that name.”
