Last night Jiang Xiaoshuai called Wu—phone off. He figured they were busy and didn’t intrude. This morning it was still off, and anxiety gnawed at him.
Did it work or not?
Just as he was thinking, an uninvited guest showed up.
Jiang Xiaoshuai glanced sideways at Guo Chengyu. “What are you here for?”
“To tell you some good news.”
Jiang Xiaoshuai gave him a faint, skeptical look. “You could actually have good news?”
Guo Chengyu casually picked up a pear from the coffee table, took a bite, and said nonchalantly, “Didn’t Chi Cheng bully you? I already avenged you. I brought Wu Suowei to the brothel Chi Cheng frequents the most and exposed all his dirty secrets. Guess what — do you think Dawei will cripple him when he hears about it?”
Jiang Xiaoshuai’s temples started throbbing, a bad feeling washing over him.
“When… when exactly did you take him there?”
Guo Chengyu very cleverly moved the date forward by a day.
“Yesterday afternoon.”
Jiang Xiaoshuai nearly fell to the ground. All that mental preparation he’d done this morning, thinking everything was basically settled — and at the critical moment, Guo Chengyu had butted in.
All his efforts down the drain!
Not caring about appearances anymore, he grabbed Guo Chengyu by the collar and roared furiously:
“Why the hell didn’t you report it earlier or later, why exactly at that critical time? Huh?! Are you fucking deliberately trying to screw me over?!”
Guo Chengyu was kicked out, but still wore a smug smile.
Li Wang couldn’t figure out Guo Chengyu’s thinking again. “Why did you say it happened a day earlier?”
Guo Chengyu’s gaze lingered playfully on the window outside as he spoke leisurely: “It’s obvious Jiang Xiaoshuai still doesn’t know Wu Suowei and Chi Cheng are together. He thinks I ruined his chance, and he thinks Chi Cheng will still retaliate against him. So tell me, if he panics, won’t he need to find a place to hide? And who do you think he’ll turn to?”
Li Wang finally laughed. “Definitely you!”
Guo Chengyu brushed off some ash, a sly line forming at the corner of his eyes.
“Do you think Wu Suowei, after such a blow, will break up with Chi Cheng?” Li Wang asked.
Guo Chengyu replied flatly, “You underestimate his mental toughness. That guy isn’t ordinary stubborn. Once he sets his sights on something, he won’t give it up easily.”
Li Wang sighed. “That’s a pity.”
Guo smiled. “If they don’t break up, Chi’s life’ll be even worse, don’t you think?”
Li tapped the wheel, grinning at the rear-view mirror.
“Your schemes are next-level, boss.”
