For safety’s sake, Chi Cheng first brought Wu Suowei over to Guo Chengyu’s place.
Jiang Xiaoshuai had just rushed over from the clinic, worried that if Wu arrived and no one was there to receive him, it would cause trouble. Guo Chengyu had been pacing at the door all along, clearing out any suspicious figures in the vicinity, making sure everything was secure for Wu and Chi’s return.
The moment Wu stepped through the door, Jiang darted over and grabbed him, the two of them throwing their arms around each other, pounding each other on the back and chest, a whole heartfelt reunion.
Chi Cheng and Guo Chengyu stood to the left and right, both casting dark, gloomy glances at them out of the corners of their eyes.
“I’m telling you, if it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have made it back. Those codes you sent? I cracked them all!” Jiang shamelessly bragged.
Wu cast a disdainful glance at Chi Cheng, then gave his grateful hug to the very person who’d pushed him into the fire pit.
“Some people seem pretty sharp normally,” Wu said, throwing shade, “but when it really matters, you can’t count on them at all.”
Jiang chimed in enthusiastically, “Exactly, all that brainpower wasted on the wrong things.”
Both Chi Cheng and Guo Chengyu took the hit beautifully.
Noticing the faint bruises around Wu’s strong brows, Jiang couldn’t help but say in a pained tone, “Man, when I saw you getting beaten in the surveillance footage, I couldn’t sleep the whole night. That old bastard was ruthless.”
Chi Yuanduan was, after all, Chi Cheng’s father. No matter how much resentment Wu harbored in his heart, he couldn’t openly disrespect him in front of Chi. So he replied gently, “It’s not his fault. He never told anyone to beat me, those two fat guys just got handsy on their own.”
“Tsk tsk…” Jiang raised an eyebrow. “Already making excuses for him?”
Wu chuckled. “You know what they say, getting hit and scolded just means they care.”
Chi Cheng’s face was clouded with gloom.
Jiang hooked an arm around Wu’s neck. “Come on, let’s go find somewhere to talk.”
“Mm, mm, I’ve been holding it in these past couple of days, I was just looking for someone to vent to.”
Chi Cheng shot a look at Guo Chengyu, and Guo immediately grabbed the back of Jiang Xiaoshuai’s head. With a powerful twist of his arm, he spun Jiang around and pinned him in place.
In a tone harsher than he’d ever used before, he scolded Jiang, “What are you chatting about? Get back to the room!”
Jiang’s eyebrows shot up, his gaze hard and fierce. “Who the hell are you yelling at?”
Guo had never been able to really get angry at Jiang to begin with, and after all these days, Jiang had worried and suffered plenty already. So the moment Jiang glared at him, all his aggression evaporated, and he could only send him a subtle look.

Wu Suowei looked down and it felt like thunder struck him.
Jiang Xiaoshuai, you really are my good master… my best bro!!
Wu flipped out of bed, threw on a random piece of clothing, and charged straight into Guo Chengyu’s room.
Guo was sitting on the bed on a call while Jiang Xiaoshuai was doodling a turtle on his toes with a pen.
“Jiang Xiaoshuai!” Wu roared.
Jiang turned his head and saw Wu’s furious face. He calmly put down the pen and followed him out of the room, looking puzzled.
The moment they stepped outside, Jiang was blasted by a barrage from Wu.
“Your brain is something else, you really deserve to be my master. I… I don’t even know how to compliment you!!”
When Jiang finally got the full answer from Wu, his facial muscles twitched for a good while.
“Holy shit, that’s insane. Even with it so far off you still managed to make it work, hahaha…” Jiang laughed, patting Wu’s shoulder. “This just shows the heavens were watching over you. Even with such a huge screw-up, you still made it back safe.”
“Heavens my ass!” Wu barked angrily. “You call this the heavens watching over me?”
Jiang started bullshitting again. “Who cares how it was cracked? The result’s the same. My thinking may have gone off track, but my heart has always been tied to yours.”
“Tied to your grandma’s!” Wu shouted back, fuming. “You think the result’s the same? Do you even know I got beaten?!”
Jiang’s expression changed. “Beaten? Who did it?”
“Who do you think?!” Wu said bitterly.
Jiang gritted his teeth and stomped his feet, on the surface, indignant on his disciple’s behalf, but secretly trying to excuse himself. He even deliberately tried to stir the pot and shift the blame elsewhere.
“What? Chi Cheng actually had the nerve to hit you? He didn’t understand you, couldn’t crack the code, and he hit you? And he actually believed that bullshit about ‘I love your dad’? In his heart, is that really the kind of person he thinks you are? Oh, Dawei, Dawei, you actually came and questioned me over a scumbag like that? You’ve really broken my heart!”
Wu stood there stiffly, silent.
Jiang continued, “Dawei, there’s something I didn’t dare tell you. You’d just gotten out of danger, and I was afraid you’d get even more upset if you heard it.”
With it already said like that, how could Wu not want to know?
“Just say it. I’m already upset, what’s one more thing? Lay it on me!”
Jiang crouched down, ran his fingers through his hair, looking like he was choking back grievance and didn’t know how to say it.
Wu grew impatient. “Just spit it out already!”
Jiang suddenly stood up, clamped his hands on Wu’s shoulders, and with a grave expression, he told Wu about Chi Cheng and Guo Chengyu jerking each other off and even embellished it with how Chi’s expression didn’t change one bit without Wu around.
Wu only said two words in response, “Motherfucker!“
Then he spun around and stormed back to his room.
