“Dr. Jiang Is Pregnant With His Nemesis’s Child”
Author: Hulu Jiang | [Completed + Extras]
Synopsis:
Everyone knows that the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Jihua Hospital, affiliated with A Medical University, has two associate chief physicians who never see eye to eye.
From the first day of university to their Ph.D. graduation, then on to their medical residency and job title evaluations, Jiang Xu and Shen Fangyu fought like cats and dogs, relentlessly, viciously. If one scored 96, the other had to score 97. It was a battle of: “If you don’t outdo me, I’ll outdo you.”
In the end, they even fell for the same girl.
Who would have thought that before they could determine a winner, their crush would stroll up, hand-in-hand with her girlfriend, and come out of the closet right in front of them, smiling sweetly.
After three months of pointless rivalry, the two very straight men were left shattered. United in heartbreak, they drowned their sorrows in alcohol… and in their drunken haze, somehow ended up in bed together.
The next morning, Jiang Xu dragged himself up, clutching his nearly broken waist, and had a mental breakdown for a good thirty seconds before resolutely deciding to forget the whole thing.
Until three months later — clutching his now-vanished abs, staring at the positive pregnancy test — he looked at himself in the mirror in disbelief.
“Ugh—”
First Confession
Shen Fangyu touched Jiang Xu’s forehead. “You don’t have a fever… Is it April Fool’s Day today?”
Then he had a swollen face for seven days.
First Estimated Due Date
Shen Fangyu couldn’t help but laugh. “Well, well, this baby’s due date is actually on April Fool’s Day.”
Jiang Xu replied coldly, “It just proves that our encounter was a joke from the start.”
On April Fool’s Day
The thick scent of alcohol filled the room. Jiang Xu spoke irritably, “Can you even do this?”
As always, Shen Fangyu’s mouth was reckless, “Don’t worry. With my years of surgical experience, I guarantee, if you don’t make it off the operating table alive, I’ll pay for your cemetery plot.”
Jiang Xu turned his head away. “Who the hell is afraid—”
An oxygen mask was placed over his face, cutting off his words.
“I can’t kiss you right now, but I’ll stay by your side.”
The sharp scalpel cut open the layers of his lover’s body. When Shen Fangyu looked up again, all that was left in his eyes, usually so carefree, was a deep and earnest love.
“Even if this child is born on April Fool’s Day, believe me, I’m not here to joke.”
“Dr. Jiang,” Shen Fangyu said softly, “I love you.”
Reading Notes:
- Happy Ending, Double Virgin (both leads)
- A cold-tempered, irritable, occasionally queen-like bottom × a goofy, dramatic, occasionally loyal golden retriever top
- A relaxing, sweet and doting story, with a satisfying professional growth arc
- Medical professionals, please read with caution. Hardcore logic or realism lovers, beware — no matter how much I quote sources to rationalize male pregnancy, it’s still inherently unrealistic.
- The main story ends at childbirth; child-rearing is only included in extras, and not too much. Check your preferences.
- Completely fictional universe! Some hospital systems referenced from real-world China, but modified for plot. Please consider it a parallel universe and don’t nitpick. If you must argue, you win.
