Extra: The Liar 16 (Wolf & Bunny 2nd CP + some main CP) – He was willing to give everything, as long as Gao Tu was still willing to take it.
Beaten half-disabled by his biological father, Shen Wenlang lay in the isolation room for another ten days. As soon as he could move a little, he became restless again.
Everything in the isolation room – from tables and chairs to the bed – was specially made, with reinforced and hardened materials. Shen Wenlang noticed that the headboard of the bed was not a soft cushion like in a regular bedroom, but a specially made metal frame. The two tall racks on either side were deeply worn, as if something had once been tightly bound to them.
When Shen Wenlang went mad in the room again, trying to ram open the solid isolation room door with ribs that hadn’t fully healed, he finally got a chance to find out what had worn those racks down.
“F***! Let go of me!”
“Put him back on the bed,” Shen Yu ordered coldly.
At his command, two special forces soldiers, each over two meters tall, immediately moved in, and with combined force dragged him back to the bed.
Shen Wenlang, unable to fight back, was unceremoniously shackled to the headboard by his tyrant of a father.
“F***! You old bastard! What right do you have to lock me up? Let me out! I have things to do!”
“Things?” Shen Yu looked down at his only child as though he were an ant, expressionless. “Other than disgracing yourself, what else can you do?”
Shen Wenlang roared:
“Disgrace? Well, I didn’t disgrace your name! I’m my father’s son, what’s it to you? Since I was a kid, when have you ever cared about me? Now what right do you have to lock me up? Let go of me, damn you! You bastard!”
No matter how much he cursed, Shen Yu remained unmoved. Like an inhuman, unfeeling statue, even facing his own flesh and blood, he was still rigid, harsh, and devoid of warmth.
Shen Wenlang had never received an ounce of affection from his Alpha father – only authoritarian violence and rule by force.
But his feelings for his Omega father were far more conflicted and complicated.
On one hand, Ying Yi was also strict with him, but he had warmth. He was the only one who would silently bandage his wounds after Shen Yu kicked him for missing a target during shooting practice.
The only one who dared to speak up and tell Shen Yu to stop when berating him.
But Ying Yi’s near-pathological dependence on Shen Yu, and the story Shen Wenlang had pieced together from what he saw and guessed, made him unable to respect him either.
So, when Shen Wenlang went on a hunger strike and tried to break his fingers to escape the cuffs, only to be caught by Shen Yu, his fingers reset, his arms twisted behind his back and locked even tighter before being thrown back into the isolation room, though he cursed in his heart, thinking why hasn’t the one Hua Yong said would let me go come yet, it never occurred to him that the one would be Ying Yi – who had been dead for over a decade, his ashes long cold.
The isolation room had a very high ceiling, with a glass window at the top. The remote control was within reach even with cuffs on. At the press of a button, the frosted glass window would instantly become a clear skylight.
It was actually a rather romantic design – a pair of lovers could lie side by side here, looking at the stars above, away from the world.
It didn’t seem like Shen Yu’s style at all; Shen Wenlang figured it must’ve been the designer’s random inspiration.
Enduring the pain of his injuries, Shen Wenlang lay there, anxiously thinking of how to get out to continue looking for Gao Tu.
Then he heard a faint click, and a rope dropped through the now-shattered skylight.
Startled, he sat up abruptly – which pulled on his ribs and made him grimace in pain.
Dim light from the courtyard outside streamed through the broken skylight.
After a rustle of movement, a tall, slender figure appeared lightly before him.
By the faint light, Shen Wenlang almost thought he was dreaming, his fingers clenching into fists as he murmured:
“Dad…?”
After so many years, Ying Yi didn’t seem to have aged much, just paler and thinner. The moonlight illuminated his sharp, bright eyes and broad forehead. Shen Wenlang took a moment to be sure he wasn’t dreaming.
“Little wolf cub, still awake?”
The childhood nickname touched a soft place in his heart.
His eyes burned and stung, tears he hadn’t shed even at the funeral over ten years ago suddenly welling up.
People say mothers are like gods to children, shaping them indelibly – and perhaps knowing from a young age about Ying Yi’s abject dependence on Shen Yu had made Shen Wenlang grow up disgusted with Omegas.
When Ying Yi “died,” Shen Wenlang told himself it wasn’t so bad. At least the proud, dignified Ying Yi no longer had to suffer such humiliation, being locked up in isolation every heat, crying for an inhuman Alpha’s embrace.
But now, seeing his Omega father alive again, Shen Wenlang suddenly realized – he loved him.
All the contempt and anger had just been a defense mechanism to dull the pain of his loss.
He had missed him all these years.
So, after a stunned few seconds, he burst into tears like a child.
“Dad…”
“Shh.” Ying Yi put a finger to his lips. “Still remember how to use a rope?”
“Yeah, but I can’t.” Shen Wenlang raised his shackled arms to show him. “Shen Yu beat me and chained me up! That psychopath!”
Ying Yi frowned faintly.
“He’s still your father.”
“No, I won’t admit that a bastard who chains up his wife and kid is my father!”
Ying Yi frowned deeper, clearly disapproving, but this wasn’t the time for a heart-to-heart.
He deftly pulled out a small laser cutter and sliced through the cuffs.
Shen Wenlang rubbed his wrists, wincing as he swung his legs off the bed.
“Little wolf cub, what happened to you?” Ying Yi asked, noting his awkward movements.
Deliberately playing up his pain, Shen Wenlang croaked:
“Nothing… Shen Yu kicked four of my ribs and broke my leg.”
“You’re nearly thirty and he still hits you?”
“Yep.” Shen Wenlang said bitterly, “Dad, am I really his kid?”
Ying Yi gave him a sharp look and snapped:
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
Then he yanked the rope taut, crouched down, and offered his back.
“Get on. I’ll carry you.”
Shen Wenlang’s eyes warmed again – almost crying at the thought of being carried home like a child at nearly thirty.
But the next second, the lights flared on and the door swung open. Shen Yu entered with a group of towering bodyguards.
For once, the glacial calm on Shen Yu’s face melted away when he saw Ying Yi – shock, pain, joy flooding in.
Shen Wenlang instinctively stepped in front of his Omega father like a wolf baring its teeth.
But to his surprise, the situation took a wild turn:
After a few stunned seconds, Ying Yi suddenly lunged at Shen Yu like a cheetah – lean, explosive, beautiful in his ferocity – and punched him square in the face.
Shen Yu didn’t dodge, just stood there and took it, his lips swelling as his eyes reddened.
“Yi-ge…” he said hoarsely.
“I told you to take care of Wenlang,” Ying Yi growled. “This is how you took care of him?”
Shen Yu’s expression wavered for once.
“I never promised you,” he said tightly.
And it became clear – he would never have let Ying Yi face death alone.
Shen Wenlang never imagined he’d reunite with his Omega father in this life.
Even more unimaginable – that his arrogant, cold father would stand there like a scolded schoolboy, letting Ying Yi berate him.
When it was over, Shen Yu lowered his head and muttered:
“Yi-ge… I wasn’t wrong. But if you’re angry, then hit me again.”
Shen Wenlang: …
Ying Yi narrowed his eyes from his seat.
“What did you say?”
Shen Yu stiffened, then muttered through clenched teeth:
“Anyway… I wasn’t wrong.”
Damn. That felt good. Really good.
Shen Wenlang stood watching, at first confused, then just enjoying the show.
But soon he sobered up.
“Dad, keep scolding him – I need to go out.”
Shen Yu’s cold eyes flicked to him.
“Where? To make a fool of yourself again?”
Shen Wenlang thought: Mind your damn business. Out loud, he said mournfully:
“Father, I’m almost thirty. Can’t I have even a little freedom?”
Ying Yi frowned again, but before he could speak, Shen Yu snapped:
“Go.”
Fine! Shen Wenlang slipped out.
But his search for Gao Tu went nowhere. Both Gao Tu and Ma Heng’s ID records stopped a week ago.
Panicked, Shen Wenlang suspected they might have fled abroad – but checks showed neither had left the country.
The more time passed, the more desperate he became, fearing something unspeakable had happened to Gao Tu.
He hired elite private investigators, raised the reward to nine figures.
For a while, the story of the HS Group’s chairman spending a fortune to find a friend became national news.
Yet despite everything, no one could find a trace of Gao Tu.
Three years later, in V country –
A news flash:
“HS Group to join forces with NovasTech to build the largest pheromone industrial park cluster in V country.”
Caught off guard, Ma Heng frantically looked for the remote, but it was already too late – Shen Wenlang’s striking face filled the screen.
And when he turned, he saw Gao Tu holding the remote, his face unreadable.
Gao Tu had always been a serious man – serious in work, life, and love – and serious even in letting go.
That stubbornness and honesty were what drew Ma Heng to him.
So long ago, when Gao Tu seriously rejected his confession, Ma Heng had been helplessly heartbroken – but who could blame him?
After all, he liked just such a little bunny.
Even now, whenever Ma Heng thought of the way Gao Tu had earnestly rejected him, his heart still ached faintly.
That silly little bunny had so seriously apologized to him:
“I’m sorry. I really can’t like you.”
Fortunately, it was “can’t like”, not “don’t like.”
“You’ve done so much for me, even left your home to settle with me in V country. Ma Heng, I’m really grateful to you.”
Gao Tu was so earnest.
He rejected him seriously, firmly turning down Ma Heng’s feelings without dragging it out.
Yet keeping things ambiguous and unclear would have actually been more advantageous to him – after all, he was an Omega who had just given birth not long ago, in a foreign country, needing the help of an Alpha who deeply loved him.
But he was so resolute, staring at Ma Heng with wet, apologetic eyes, saying:
“I’m really sorry.”
Gratitude was not love.
Gao Tu had loved before, he knew what love was.
His chasing and affection had all been given to someone else.
Like the spirits in ancient stories, drained of their essence after giving their heart to the wrong person, left as nothing but an empty shell, forever losing the ability and courage to love again.
“Ma Heng, I know you’ve always been good to me, which is exactly why I can’t shamelessly use your feelings just to make my own life easier.”
“And I also know it’s cruel to reject you yet still want to remain friends with you.”
“So, it’s better if we don’t-“
Ma Heng knew what he was about to say.
And that was a sentence he could never accept.
So he forced a wry smile, cut him off exaggeratedly and playfully:
“Aiya, why answer so seriously! You’re making me embarrassed! Little bunny, do you even know what day it is today? You idiot!”
Gao Tu immediately showed that familiar, confused look Ma Heng both knew and loved.
After thinking hard, he suddenly realized:
“Ah, today is April Fool’s Day! Hahaha, I actually forgot.”
Thinking he had been pranked, Gao Tu visibly relaxed – and seeing that made Ma Heng feel deeply relieved. At least he had picked the perfect day to confess, leaving himself a way out.
After seriously rejecting Ma Heng, Gao Tu even watched the news with the same seriousness. He held his breath, staring at the handsome Alpha on the screen as though he even forgot to blink.
The Omega Song Feifei, who had recently registered her marriage to Ma Heng, was a shameless face-enthusiast. She stared at Shen Wenlang on the screen for a long time and sincerely exclaimed:
“The boss of HS Group is really good-looking.”
Ma Heng immediately turned to watch Gao Tu’s expression, his worry written all over his face.
But Gao Tu’s expression was normal. He smiled and nodded:
“Yeah.”
“You like this type of look too, don’t you!” Song Feifei’s eyes lit up. She grabbed Gao Tu’s arm and said, “And you know what? The first time I saw him, I thought he looked familiar somehow – like I’d seen him somewhere before.”
Song Feifei had been with Ma Heng since their university days.
By then, Ma Heng had already completely given up on Gao Tu.
The cheerful and lively Song Feifei had helped him regain the courage to love, and they finally ended up together, finding his true destined Omega.
Song Feifei was lively by nature, and Gao Tu liked her a lot too, always treating her like a younger sister.
For academic reasons, Gao Qing had stayed in China, and Gao Tu hadn’t seen her in a long time.
The girl herself had also proactively decided not to visit her brother in V country before graduating, so as not to give Shen Wenlang any chance to track down Gao Tu.
In university, Song Feifei had majored in pheromone-related biology and continued working in the same field after graduation.
Seeing Gao Tu staring unblinking at the footage of Shen Wenlang and NovasTech’s Omega female head smiling and shaking hands during the contract signing, she suddenly got curious and whispered mysteriously:
“This Shen Wenlang is really famous in the industry! Handsome yet always single! There were even rumors he had Omega-phobia!”
Gao Tu froze, turning to look at the gossiping Song Feifei.
“Oh.”
His expression seemed a little unnatural.
Thinking he didn’t believe her, Song Feifei leaned in closer:
“Oh come on, Gao Tu-ge, you can’t not believe me! I have it straight from the source! Originally, people in the industry thought he’d never work with Novas because his Omega-phobia was so serious! I heard years ago, even Omegas in his own company weren’t given important roles – he was even threatened with a lawsuit for his repeated sexist remarks!”
“If he discriminated that badly, isn’t a lawsuit deserved? Nothing surprising there.” Ma Heng cut in, trying to change the subject. “Hey, Feifei, what should we have for dinner?”
But Song Feifei had no interest in discussing dinner, and continued:
“Actually, I used to believe the rumors too! Shen Wenlang must have Omega-phobia! I mean, with his looks and status, how could he still be single, without even a scandal? But now I don’t think so anymore.” She rested her chin on her hand, saying confidently: “That phobia thing was probably just slander – a rumor spread by some jealous rival because he succeeded so young. Look at how easily he chats and laughs with that Omega from Novas – he doesn’t seem afraid at all.”
Ma Heng couldn’t listen anymore, and clumsily tried to steer the topic away:
“Alright, alright, stop gossiping already. Whether he fears Omegas or Alphas has nothing to do with us! Let’s go to the supermarket and get groceries for dinner – we also have to pick up Lele from school.”
Only then did Song Feifei stand up:
“Oh right! Let’s go!”
On the way to the supermarket, Gao Tu behaved normally.
But Ma Heng, knowing the truth, couldn’t help worrying.
While Song Feifei was busy shopping in the imported goods section, he seized the chance and quietly asked Gao Tu:
“Are you okay? Feifei didn’t mean anything by it – I’m sorry.”
Gao Tu was briefly stunned, then quickly reassured him:
“It’s fine, really. It’s all in the past. Don’t worry about it.”
After watching him for a while longer and confirming he was okay, Ma Heng finally turned back to help his girlfriend – who was still fretting between tuna and snapper at the seafood counter – make up her mind.
Pushing the cart behind them, Gao Tu couldn’t help but remember a time years ago when he and Shen Wenlang had gone to the supermarket together.
The store had been packed with Omegas. Shen Wenlang had graciously allowed him to shop for groceries, then suddenly decided to come along. But the whole time, he wore a dark expression and kept hurrying Gao Tu along.
“So many Omegas here, it stinks. Hurry up! It’s just groceries, why pick so carefully?”
So no – Song Feifei’s gossip wasn’t entirely accurate. It wasn’t that Shen Wenlang feared Omegas – he despised them.
And that had been Gao Tu’s worst nightmare.
Time really was the best medicine – it had only been three years.
And Gao Tu rarely had nightmares anymore.
He hadn’t thought of Shen Wenlang in a long, long time – and naturally wasn’t woken by those bad dreams anymore.
From today’s news, Shen Wenlang seemed to be doing well too – still the dazzling, impossibly handsome top-tier Alpha.
Judging by how at ease he was with Novas’ Omega leader, his Omega-aversion must’ve eased up a lot.
Probably Secretary Hua had healed him.
It really was a happy ending.
Meeting the right person at the right time could heal any psychological wound.
Shen Wenlang was lucky – he’d found his cure.
As for Gao Tu – who had been unable to help, and had ruined what could have been a beautiful relationship with a clumsy lie – all he could do was sincerely wish him well.
His love had been unwanted, and his pain unnecessary.
Gao Tu knew Shen Wenlang had searched hard for him, but as Ma Heng had said, that proud Alpha just couldn’t accept being deceived by a filthy, lowly Omega, which was why he’d dug up the earth to drag him back and demand answers.
If Gao Tu had still been alone, he would have gone back without hesitation to take whatever punishment.
But he wasn’t.
Even now, whenever he thought of Gao Ming’s words – “If you want us to abort, give me ten million, not a cent less” – Gao Tu still felt his throat tighten, fighting the urge to vomit.
Even he himself was disgusted by his and his father’s vileness – let alone Shen Wenlang, who had always hated Omegas.
“Gao Tu-ge!” Song Feifei suddenly leaning close startled him out of his thoughts.
“I’ve been talking to you and you didn’t even answer – what are you thinking about?” she chirped, hooking his arm and asking: “So, should we get tuna or snapper for dinner?”
Still the same question, after all this time.
Thinking of her favorite saying – “Only kids choose, adults take both” – Gao Tu knowingly suggested:
“Why don’t we get both?”
Song Feifei nodded in satisfaction:
“See? An Omega understands an Omega! That straight Alpha Ma Heng refused to let me get both!”
“That’s raw fish! I was worried you’d feel sick if you ate too much…”
Watching the young couple bicker playfully, and thinking of his son getting out of preschool in half an hour, a warm, simple contentment filled Gao Tu’s heart. He truly felt fortunate.
During dinner, little Gao Lele – whose birthday was coming up – earnestly laid out his weekend plans: he wanted to stay in a themed hotel at the brand-new, world-famous theme park in V country.
Hearing the three-year-old so serious about planning a trip, Song Feifei suddenly had a flash of realization.
She gasped and nearly jumped out of her chair:
“Lele looks so much like Shen Wenlang! No wonder I always thought Shen Wenlang looked familiar!”
It was clearly a sensitive topic.
Ma Heng froze, glancing stiffly at Gao Tu.
Gao Tu also paused, but he seemed to have long come to terms with it. After a quiet moment, he gave a faint, bitter smile:
“Yeah… maybe a little.”
Ma Heng quickly smoothed things over, pulling the standing Song Feifei back into her seat and adding a piece of fish belly to her bowl:
“Aiya, everyone has two eyes and a mouth, right? Besides, good-looking people all look alike! Don’t make such a fuss at the table – the kid’s watching! Eat up!”
Song Feifei, simple as she was, never imagined the untold history between the man before her and the faraway Shen Wenlang.
She sucked on her chopsticks and nodded:
“That’s true! As the saying goes, all beautiful things are alike – only the ugly ones are unique. Our little Lele is so pretty, no wonder he looks like a celebrity!”
As she spoke, she giggled and pinched Lele’s cheek:
“Isn’t that right, Lele?”
Little Lele only half-understood the adults’ words but nodded obediently.
“Mm!”
He was just so happy – because his dad had promised to take him to the amusement park, and Aunt Feifei had praised him for being handsome.
Jianghu – HS Group Headquarters, Chairman’s Office
“I want to go to the amusement park.”
Little Peanut, just past his third birthday, stood on the leather office chair, staring wide-eyed at his godfather.
“That’s in V country. Wait until your dads come back from Europe, then they’ll take you.”
“No!”
Little Peanut, small but opinionated, gave a soft but determined order:
“Daddy Wenlang will take me!”
“When they’re back, let Sheng Shaoyou take you.”
“Daddy’s busy! Needs to rest, Father disagrees!”
Little Peanut’s expression was serious, his reasoning clear. After listing the difficulties, he grabbed Shen Wenlang’s tie with his chubby hand and demanded in a sweet, soft voice:
“Daddy Wenlang take me!”
“Just take him, would you?”
On the other end of the video call, Hua Yong spoke easily:
“You’re heading to V country for a business trip anyway – might as well take Little Peanut along. He’s well-behaved and won’t be much trouble.”
“Mm!”
Little Peanut nodded hard, patted his own little head, and earnestly advertised himself:
“Peanut good! No trouble!”
Shen Wenlang scooped the teetering boy off the chair with one hand and asked Hua Yong:
“If he’s no trouble, why don’t you take him to Europe?”
“Do you take your kid on a honeymoon?”
Hua Yong raised a brow and smiled coolly:
“Oh, sorry – forgot. You don’t even have a wife.”
“Who says I don’t!?”
Shen Wenlang exploded at once.
“My bad, correction – it’s not that you don’t have a wife, it’s that your wife ran off with another Alpha.”
Shen Wenlang: …
Even though that mad dog never spoke a kind word, since Little Peanut was just too cute, in the end Shen Wenlang waved the white flag and agreed to take him to V country.
Shen Wenlang’s trip to V country was five days long.
The last day was set aside for Little Peanut, to take him to the amusement park.
On the fourth night, he attended a banquet celebrating the partnership between the two companies.
Everyone brought an Omega companion – only Shen Wenlang brought a bodyguard and an assistant.
Since Gao Tu left, he never sought another proper secretary to accompany him to events. He couldn’t even explain why.
Lover, secretary – he wanted neither.
He just… just wanted to wait for that vanished Omega to return.
A few too many drinks left him woozy. When he got back to the hotel, Little Peanut was already asleep, tucked in by the nanny. After a quick wash, he went straight to bed.
Not long after, he fell into a deep sleep.
“Work hard even after I leave, okay?”
The sunlight was bright and a little harsh.
That afternoon, Gao Tu stood in the break room, speaking to the young secretary who was taking over his duties:
“President Shen isn’t a bad person, just a bit impatient. Communicate well with him – I’m sure you’ll do the job even better than me.”
Shen Wenlang couldn’t even remember that secretary’s name now. He stood behind the wall, listening as the secretary asked the question that had been buried in his own heart:
“Secretary Gao, can’t you stay?”
Gao Tu’s gentle, smiling voice answered:
“Hm? If President Shen gave me 10% of the shares, I’d consider staying.”
“5%.”
Shen Wenlang strode out from the corner, arms crossed, bargaining:
“Considering the group’s control, I can at most offer you 5%. Even so, that’s already a huge amount of money. Think about it again, Gao Tu.”
Gao Tu stared at him wide-eyed, like a startled bunny caught by the head wolf.
His face clearly said: That’s not just huge – that’s astronomical.
But his expression settled, and his voice took on a deep helplessness:
“Sorry, President Shen – I was just joking.”
W-what? Joking? Then what do you want to stay?
Shen Wenlang roared inwardly, but his face stayed cold:
“I don’t have time for jokes.”
When Gao Tu didn’t answer as he expected, Shen Wenlang felt an unprecedented unease. Trying to regain control, he said arrogantly:
“You’re not even worth that much. If it weren’t for-“
“I don’t want it.”
Gao Tu cut him off lightly, decisively, even smiling:
“You’re right, President Shen – I’m not worth that much. So, I don’t want it.”
What? You don’t want it? Then what do you want!
Frustrated and at a loss, Shen Wenlang’s expression turned dangerous:
“What did you say?”
He still wanted to negotiate but was afraid of being seen through – because no matter how “worthless” Gao Tu was, he still stupidly wanted to “buy” him.
“I said, I don’t want it.”
Seeing Gao Tu unwilling to “sell,” the anxious buyer grew frantic:
“Why not? Someone like you – no one else would pay a dime. You’d better think it over!”
Shen Wenlang tried to paint him as worthless while still unable to let go, bluffing to cover his desire.
“No need to think.”
Gao Tu grinned, then suddenly wrapped an arm around another Alpha’s neck.
“I have someone I like now, Shen Wenlang. Don’t bother me again.”
Shen Wenlang never imagined that a mere nightmare could scare him awake so badly he’d roll right off his hotel’s king-sized bed.
His heart pounded wildly, like he’d just run an 800-meter sprint, about to leap out of his throat.
He lay on the carpet, dazed, clutching the blanket. After a moment, he cursed, got up, and walked barefoot to the sink.
While washing up, he still regretted bargaining earlier.
If he asked for 10%, he should’ve offered 20%.
Whatever Gao Tu wanted, Shen Wenlang should’ve agreed instantly – and given double.
Love, shares, money, career, marriage…
He was willing to give it all, as long as Gao Tu still wanted it.
The popular amusement park in V country was in the suburbs of Salomon.
Little Peanut had prepared everything:
A water bottle, a snack backpack, a GPS smartwatch…
On the way there, he even video-called Sheng Shaoyou in Europe.
It was past midnight there, and it took a while for him to pick up. Sheng Shaoyou looked flushed, lips glistening with a faint trace of something intimate, his voice hoarse:
“What is it, baby?”
“Daddy Wenlang’s taking me to play!” Little Peanut announced happily.
“There are big dinosaurs! And little mice!”
Sheng Shaoyou smiled faintly:
“Not little mice – Mickey Mouse.”
Little Peanut shook his head stubbornly:
“Little mouse! Black ears, pointy mouth, overalls – little mouse!”
“Baby, that’s Mickey Mouse.”
“Mickey?”
He tilted his head suspiciously.
“Yes, Mi-“
Before he could finish, the screen flipped, revealing Hua Yong’s annoyed face. He forced patience and softened his tone:
“Peanut, whether the ears are black or white, pointy or bald – after you see for yourself, tell your dad, okay?
“Your dad’s very tired now. It’s still dark here. He needs to sleep so he has energy to come home, understand?”
“How could a kid understand the filth in your perverted brain?”
Shen Wenlang snorted.
“Alright, you two go back to being ‘busy.’ I’ll take Peanut to figure out that mouse.”
The park was crowded, but luckily the VIP entrance had no line.
Shen Wenlang came light, with just one bodyguard and one nanny. Holding Little Peanut – already wearing Mickey sunglasses – he entered through the special gate.
Since it was the holiday, parents and kids were everywhere.
In the water world area, Little Peanut insisted on walking himself.
Shen Wenlang bent down to set him down. Peanut carried his water gun, hopping backward.
“Young Master, careful!”
Little Peanut had been a high-risk birth – Sheng Shaoyou nearly died to bring him into the world – and they all doted on him.
But he was well-behaved despite being cherished, never spoiled or bratty. Everyone genuinely loved him as their treasure.
Seeing him about to bump into another child, the nanny lunged and cried:
“Careful!”
But she was a step too late.
Peanut crashed into a boy half a head shorter, knocking him over.
The boy’s exposed ankle swelled quickly.
Behind his Mickey Mouse mask, the boy’s sobs came out in a muffled, restrained way.
“Lele!”
A kind-looking young man rushed over, worried, and scooped the boy up.
Shen Wenlang quickly checked Peanut for injuries too.
Ma Heng and Song Feifei had only turned to buy ice cream for a moment, and Lele got hurt.
Gao Tu, sweating with guilt, muttered self-reproachfully.
Ma Heng spotted it from afar and consoled him:
“Kids playing – accidents happen.”
Song Feifei added:
“It’s lucky nothing serious happened. Don’t scare yourself, Gao Tu-ge. Lele just fell – it’s okay. Let’s get to the hospital.”
Shen Wenlang froze when he heard the name.
He looked up and saw the face he’d dreamed of and searched desperately for – but never found.
“Gao Tu?”
Gao Tu stiffened, turning toward him, pale as paper, lips trembling but unable to speak, instinctively stepping back.
That movement pierced Shen Wenlang’s heart like a knife.
After a long silence, he finally said hoarsely:
“Gao Tu. Long time no see.”
Song Feifei, busy worrying over Lele, didn’t even notice the industry titan standing just two meters away.
When she finally looked up, her eyes sparkled. She tugged Ma Heng’s sleeve, whispering excitedly:
“That’s Shen Wenlang! Even more handsome than on TV! His face is smaller than mine!”
But Ma Heng’s face looked like he’d seen a ghost.
The air was heavy, the atmosphere suffocating.
Song Feifei glanced between Ma Heng and Gao Tu.
Gao Tu was worse off – he looked as though he’d suffered a catastrophe, lips turning blue, clutching Lele so tightly the boy couldn’t breathe.
But Lele only sobbed softly, sensing his normally calm father shaking all over.
